The Roost is a new co-living development with a mission to provide housing and services that can help promote a lively arts community in Central Seattle. We aim to provide a building that is focused on:
Affordability: 25% of our units are set aside as income and rent restricted. In order to qualify for MFTE homes at The Roost, household income must be below 40% of the area median income.
Livability: Units feature thoughtful built-in amenities, unique custom finishes, generous natural light, and loft-style unit designs.
Community: Generous common amenities are provided and arranged to promote chance interaction and help build community among the residents.
Support for the Arts: We are currently looking for an arts nonprofit for our primary commercial tenant. We aim to provide a long-term home for an arts organization while providing our tenants with services or cultural resources that would be useful to working artists and people in creative fields.
Sustainability: The project is targeting Built Green Five Star certification with an expected energy usage about 1/3 of a conventional apartment building. A rooftop solar array will provide 85-90% of the domestic hot water for the project.
